Marjorie A Niehans, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away peacefully on April 7, 2018 in Colorado Springs. She was the youngest of four children born to Arthur and Abbey Boyd on September 4, 1928 in Fort Collins, Colorado.
Marge graduated from Penrose High School in 1945 and Blair’s Business College in 1947. After college, she worked as a nanny and a legal secretary. She met the love of her life, Dee Niehans, in 1944 and they married on June 19, 1949, in Penrose, Colorado. During the early years, they lived in Pueblo, Florence, and Boulder before settling in Colorado Springs in 1951. In 1963, she helped start the retail-clothing store Dee’s Western Wear with her husband. She was married to her beloved “Corky” for nearly 69 years.
Marge had three children: James, John, and Patricia (Auxier). She was a passionate, creative person who enjoyed art and painting. She enjoyed travel and visiting art galleries; some of her favorite destinations were Whales and Italy. She visited 49 of our 50 States with her family, and she particularly loved Taos and Santa Fe. She was a real motivator and always encouraged her loved ones to see the world and follow their dreams.
Her memory will be cherished by her loving husband, children, their spouses (Susan Niehans and Pat Auxier), grandchildren (Shaina, Kyle, and Max), and friends. A Celebration of her Life will be held on Wednesday, April 18 at 10:00 a.m. at Swan-Law Funeral Directors, 501 North Cascade Avenue, in Colorado Springs.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Colorado Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association or the American Cancer Society.
