Marjorie “Grannie” Trimmer was born in Monterey, Pennsylvania to Floyd and Pearl Sanders. She was the oldest of their six daughters. She married her husband, Ralph on October 4, 1946 and soon after had three children. They moved several times throughout their marriage and lived in many towns within Pennsylvania, Florida, Missouri, California and Arizona. They moved to Colorado for the first time in 1957 and finally returned and settled in the Colorado Springs area in 1988.
Marjorie attended Naval Training School in Bronx, NY in 1944 and then served in the Navy as a “WAVE” during World War II. After leaving the navy she worked civil service at ENT Air Force Base. She later enjoyed several different careers such as Real Estate, selling turquoise jewelry and selling and buying antiques and collectibles at flea markets. She enjoyed volunteering at the day care within her church, Rocky Mountain Calvary and was also a loving and nurturing caregiver for her three great grandsons when they were young.
Marjorie had little time for her own interests while taking care of her husband who suffered from retinitis-pigmentosa and caring for everyone else’s needs. However she did enjoy raising horses, gardening, RVing, boating and traveling. She was always a very sincere and outgoing person who made friends easily.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ralph; sisters, Marion Bohle and Jean Sanders. She is survived by her sisters, Gayle Levkoff, Betty Sanders and Loretta Funk; children, Cynthia Yeager, Jeffrey Trimmer and Pamela Hurley; grandchildren, Brian Hurley and Sheri (Tom) Barger; great grandsons, Evan, Talyn and Nicholas Barger; several cousins, nieces and nephews; her dogs, Shadow and Gracie and bird, Gary.
