Martha was born in St. Martinville, Louisiana on November 10th, 1953. She was the third of seven children born to Harry J. Bryant Sr. and Lillian M. Bryant.

Martha is survived by her children Michael Jerome Ford, Angela Starr Jones, Jeremy Pierre Bryant, Lorenzo Sterling Lane Sr., Amber Rose Lane and her grandchildren Mariah Alexis Ford, Malia Jewel Ford, Nalaya Simoné Miles, Jeremiah Daniel Crookham, Scarlet Ember Rose Lane, Nehemiah Daniel Crookham, Daniella Rose Crookham, Jerriah Makai Lane, Lorenzo Sterling Lane Jr.
