
Born on April 8,1937 to William and Ruby Schwartz in North Platte, Nebraska. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband William Perkins and sister Harriett Ervin. Surviving family members include her brother John Schwartz, sister Shirley Denny, daughter Vicky (Harold) Ulrich, son Brian (Johanna) Perkins, youngest daughter Suelyn (Derrick) Ghormley, 7 grandchildren, and 9 great grand children.
The family lived in both North Platte and Cozad, Nebraska until her father became seriously ill. This forced their relocation to Edgemont, South Dakota where she finished the 6th grade. Then the family moved to Rawlins, Wyoming and Pueblo, Colorado. She graduated from Centennial High School in 1956, and earned a teaching degree from Pueblo Community College in 1958.
Mary was introduced to Bill Perkins by his brother Jim while she was attending high school. They maintained a relationship throughout his military service, and he asked her to marry him on Valentines Day, while she was teaching in Brady, Nebraska. After their wedding on June 14, 1959, they moved to South Gate, California for three years.
In California, she gave birth to Vicky and Brian. Then they moved to Amarillo, Texas and Cozad, Nebraska. While in Nebraska, she gave birth to Suelyn, and became an Amway distributor. In 1972, the family moved to Falcon, Colorado where she lovingly raised the children, helped build their house, continued selling Amway products, and kept books for Windy Hills Auto Repair. She regularly attended Falcon Baptist Church, and enjoyed caring for her grandchildren.
After 64 years of marriage, Bill, the love of her life, passed away on December 22, 2023. She spent her remaining years at home being cared for by her granddaughter Renae Mathews.
The viewing (10:00am) and funeral (11:00am) will be at Falcon Baptist Church at 11095 Eggar Drive Colorado Springs, CO 80831 on January 15, 2026.
Burial (2:00pm) will be at the Pikes Peak National Cemetery.
