

Margaret, as all knew her, lived a full and rewarding life. She revered God, the blessed Mother Mary, and family. She was kind and generous, a devoted friend to all. Raised in the small mining town of Hartville, Wyoming, she traveled the world as a military wife, settling finally in Colorado Springs.
Margaret was preceded in death by husband Mike Rodriguez in 1995 and husband Richard Sunderland in 2015, parents John and Isabel Chavez, sister Dolores Ramirez, and infant brother John Chavez. Margaret is survived by her children Leigh Ann Alvarez, Michael (KayDeane) Rodriguez, Carol (Buddy) Lenahan, stepchildren Gerry Sunderland, Rose Marie (Rick) Craft, ten grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren, brothers John and Elmer Chavez, sisters Clorie Lovato and Flora Day and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the many doctors, technicians and caregivers who assisted Margaret over the years, especially Fresenius Health Care, Pikes Peak Nephrology, Retina Consultants of Southern Colorado and Memorial Hospital-East, Shiloh, IL.
Visitation will be held at Swan Law Funeral Home, 501 N. Cascade Avenue, Colorado Springs, CO, on Tuesday, January 16, 2024, at 4:00 p.m. with Rosary to commence at 6:00 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Divine Redeemer Catholic Church, 926 Farragut Avenue, Colorado Springs, CO at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 17, 2024. Following Mass and a church reception, burial will take place at 2:00 p.m. at Ft. Logan National Cemetery, 3698 S. Sheridan Avenue, Denver, CO.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Divine Redeemer Catholic Church, Colorado Springs, CO.
