Jo was born in Lexington, Nebraska on October 28, 1944. She was one of five children to Anna and Harold Glenn Seaman. Jo was a beloved mother of three, and cherished playmate/Nana to five grandchildren. Jo is survived by her husband, Rick Vickers. The couple met in the winter of 1981 and knew immediately it was meant to be. They were married on July 17, 1982 and spent the next 31 years together as best friends. Her children Chris, Marnel and Karen as well as her 5 grandchildren, Hunter, Emma, Jackson, Breckin and Lainey, also survive her.
Jo resided in Kansas City, and earned her Med Tech at Kearney State College, a Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy from the University of Missouri – Kansas City, and a Doctorate in Pharmacy from the University of Kansas. Jo and Rick moved to Colorado in 1996 after raising their family in Kansas City. Jo retired from the Department of Defense where she served as a Pharmacist focusing primarily as a Diabetes Educator at Evans Army Hospital at Fort Carson. She was active in the community through Blanket Brigade. Jo loved to read, quilt and sew, travel, cook, spend time at the family cabin and play competitive cards (primarily canasta) at family functions. When Jo wasn’t enjoying her hobbies she was reading, playing, baking cookies or spending time in the sandbox with her grandchildren. She was the light of her grandkids’ eyes and they were the light of hers. She was and will always be an amazing Nana whose memory will always be carried on through her family. She will be deeply missed, but never forgotten.
Donations in honor of Jo Vickers will be accepted at The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Rocky Mountain Chapter, 720 S Colorado Blvd. Suite 500 S, Denver, CO 80246.
