Mary was born June 16, 1923 in Axtell, Nebraska to the late Evelyn (Wendell) and Thure Sall. She was raised and spent her childhood on a farm with parents and sister Wilma Dethloff.
Mary attended school in Wilcox, Nebraska. She obtained a Bachelor’s Degree at Kearney State in Kearney, Nebraska and continued her education in Greeley, Colorado where she received her Master’s Degree in Education, majoring in Home Economics.
Mary married Barclay H. Watson on June 16, 1946 in Axtell, Nebraska. They moved to Colorado Springs in 1947.
She taught Home Economics for over 20 years in the Colorado Springs School System. She also worked at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs after retiring from teaching.
Mary was a long time member of the First United Methodist Church. She had a love for playing games, Mary enjoyed playing Canasta, Bingo and Mexican Train Dominos with local groups in Colorado Springs. She was an avid knitter and crocheter and with that talent led a group at the Presbyterian Towers in Pueblo to produce many knitted and crocheted items for Warm the World.
Mary also loved to travel and in the children’s youth the family traveled every summer showing them the United States, Mexico and Canada. After her retirement she spent winters with Barclay and mother Evelyn in Fort Myers, Florida and summers in Colorado Springs.
Mary is survived by daughters Margaret Lupton (Al) of Palmyra, Virginia, Bette Davidson (Gary Raymond) of Tonto Basin, Arizona and son Herbert Watson (Debbie) of Pueblo West, Colorado, sister Wilma Dethloff of Colorado Springs, Colorado, daughter- in- law Karene Watson, grandchildren Kassie Watson, Rodney Davidson Jr., Brad Davidson and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in passing by her parents; husband Barclay Watson, Son Barclay Beryl and Granddaughter Kristi Watson.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, March 31, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 3825 Airport Road, Colorado Springs, with entombment following services.
