Marylyn L Sears, 90, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, passed away on September 5, 2026. Born February 13, 1936, in Omaha, Nebraska, Marylyn’s early years were shaped by her father’s railroad employment, which took the family through Colorado and New Mexico before they eventually settled in Colorado Springs.
Marylyn was a wife and mother, devoted to her home and family. On May 5, 1956, she married Raymond L. Sears. They shared 60 years of marriage until Ray’s death in August of 2016, building a life grounded in steadfast commitment and enduring love. Together they welcomed two children, Brenda L. Bramwell (born 1959) and David R. Sears (born 1961).
Throughout her life, Marylyn’s interests reflected both creativity and a lively spirit. In her younger years, she loved to draw and paint, and she remained a devoted reader for a lifetime. She was also a passionate Denver Broncos fan—never quiet about her support—and she enjoyed occasional trips to a casino in Vegas or Cripple Creek. She also took pleasure in collecting mouse figurines, a small joy that brought warmth and character to her days.
Marylyn’s faith was central to who she was. A Christian who loved the Lord, she was a churchgoer and would volunteer at church when she could. In earlier years, she also took part in civic life, going door to door on behalf of a Democratic candidate she endorsed—an expression of her willingness to show up, speak up, and stand behind what she believed.
Marylyn is survived by her children Brenda L. (Sears) Bramwell and David R. Sears; by her grandchildren Steven A. Bramwell (Deziree) and Jeremy M. Bramwell (Katie); by five great-grandchildren: Samantha, Benjamin, Charlotte, Skylar, and Rydan, her older brother William Dunbar, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond L.; her son-in-law, Robert A. Bramwell; her daughter-in-law, Diana Sears; and her younger brother, Roger Dunbar.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, September 25, 2026, at 10:00 am at Rocky Mountain Calvary, 4285 N Academy Blvd, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80910, with Pastor Doug Saxon presiding.
The family would like to thank The Healthcare Resort for the care Marylyn received there, and Compassus Hospice for their compassionate care of her and her family.
