Matthew James Farrell

Matthew James Farrell, 68, of Colorado Springs, CO passed peacefully at home on December 7, 2024, surrounded by the love and care of family. Matthew was born January 2, 1956, in Ladysmith, WI to Daniel and Francesca Farrell. Matthew grew up in Milwaukee WI and he graduated from Messmer High School in 1974. He later earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Denver Technical College.

Matthew served in the United States Army from 1975 to 1978 as a military police officer. His military service brought him to Colorado Springs where he met his wife Gail Elizabeth (Millar) Farrell in 1980. They were married for 43 years and raised three children together.

Matthew worked for many years at the International Bible Society. He was a loving and devoted husband and father. In retirement he loved working at the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo, going for walks with his dog Alice, spending time with his seven grandchildren, and serving on the security team at his church.

He is preceded in death by his parents Daniel and Francesca Farrell. He is survived by his siblings Jane Every, Mark Farrell, and John Farrell (Resurrection), as well as his wife Gail (Millar) Farrell, his children Benjamin Farrell (Mindi), Nathan Farrell (Catherine), and Elyse Farrell Suby (Adam). His grandchildren are Zalyla Farrell, Kenton Farrell, Caleb Farrell, Miriam Farrell, Elijah Suby, Lenora Suby, and Harrison Suby.
