Melissa Renee Johns, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, passed away on May 30, 2021, in Colorado Springs, Colorado. She was born in Gunnison, Colorado, February 18, 1965 and had lived in Colorado Springs, Colorado until her death.
Melissa graduated from Falcon High School in Falcon, Colorado in 1983. She then decided to go into military service, joining the U.S. Navy, serving at several different duty locations, and one of those was Rota, Spain, where her beloved daughter was born. After military service she came back home to Colorado Springs, Colorado, working at odd jobs, and then getting her career in computers. She got a job working for El Paso County, where she met her future husband. After marrying her husband, her second child, a son, was born. One of her joys in life was her dogs.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory, devoted husband, Richard of Colorado Springs, Colorado; loving daughter, Ashley (Gerry) of Catoosa, Oklahoma; loving son, Brandon (Savannah) of Schoolfield Barracks, Hawaii, precious grandchildren Kelsie and Dillon; and her loving parents Pete and Luana “Lani”, loving brother Shannon (Crystal) of Phoenix, Arizona and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles and several sisters-in-law and brother-in-law. Her two little sisters (Heather and Andrea), grandmothers (Kay and Mary), grandfathers (Neal and Elmer), her mother-in-law (Mary Lou) and father-in-law (Gene) preceded her in death.
A visitation will be held on Monday, June 7th, 10:30am-11:00am with a service to follow at 11:00am, both at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 3825 Airport Rd., Colorado Springs 80910.
