As the son of an Army soldier, Michael grew up in Germany and traveled Europe with his family. There he made lifelong friends and left lasting impressions on many. He was a free spirit unburdened by the weight of others’ opinions. Nerdy in just the right ways, he favored Deadpool and The Joker, along with a healthy (okay, maybe not so healthy) obsession with otters! Michael always had a joke, a witty comment, or some funny story to fit the situation. Loyal to a fault, he loved helping and spending time with his friends and family. His true passion, however, was to be out on the open road. Whether driving a big-rig or riding motorcycles, he loved traveling through the Colorado countryside, especially with his motorcycle club. Although Michael made missteps along the way, he never let his mistakes define him or hold him back; he kept moving, searching for his place in the world. At the end of his life, he was settling in to a happy life with his fiancée, working as a driver for his company Freedom Trucking and hauling with his dad; but most importantly, he was surrounded by people who loved and cared for him.
Michael is survived by his fiancée Jennifer Norton; his parents Kathy Prater and Michele Cerquozzi; his sister Gina Nunez, her husband David and their daughter Izabella; his two boys Kyle and Patrick; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins; and all his ABATE brothers and sisters.
