forever home on January 10, 2022. He was born on December 1, 1952 in Temple, TX to
Clarence Haverland and Betty (Wainwright) Haverland. He had two sisters, Suzanne
and Beatrice. He graduated from Sandia High School in Albuquerque, NM; and
attended Abilene Christian College. At the age of 19, Mike gave his life to the Lord and
it changed his legacy. He never forgot the two women who shared the Good News of
the Gospel with him, and would years later work for the same ministry they were a part
of.
He met the love of his life, Tonya Kay Windle, and married her on May 1, 1981. They
shared a passion for Jesus and music, and they spent many wonderful hours playing
their guitars and singing together. Together they had four daughters, Shauna, Summer,
Jessica, and Halle.
Mike worked for the Navigators ministry for 30 years, and was passionate about
discipleship and scripture memory. He also spent time as a radio disc jockey, ministering to
the homeless and those in prison, writing worship songs and poetry, painting, teaching
to groups of people about the Lord and the Bible, and just genuinely loving those
around him.
His greatest love was for the Lord and his family and friends. His last year was spent
with joy, peace, and faithfulness. He used it well by spending time with his wife, making
sure his daughters knew they were loved, and praying for each of his grandkids and
speaking blessings into their lives.
He was preceded in death by his parents Clarence and Betty Haverland and his sister
Suzie Haverland.
He is survived by: His wife Tonya. His daughter Shauna (Haverland) Allison, her
husband Nick Allison, and their children Arielle, Barrett, JJ, David, Mikah, Samuel, and
Toby. His daughter Summer Haverland and her children Morgan, Eli, and Naomi. His
daughter Jessica (Haverland) Pena and her children Nevaeh, Lilyahna, and Cecilya. His
daughter Halle (Haverland) Olson, her husband Jaden Olson, and their son Michael.
His sister Beatrice Hooper.
“Some men are remembered hundreds of years after they are gone. . Their actions and
choices outlast them and are memorialized in buildings, books, and foundations. They
leave a great legacy on the earth.
Some men, the wise ones, are often not proclaimed by the masses. What they do with
their lives is written in the hearts of those around them. They point others to Jesus, and
their actions and choices will outlast this earth. They will leave a legacy for eternity.”
Thanks for being a wise man! We love you from now through eternity!
