Jackie was born Mildred Jacquelyn Chitwood. Although, she preferred to be called Jackie, the moment she became a grandmother, “Oma” was her name to all family and even friends.
Jackie was born in Muleshoe, TX. on September 9th, 1940. Her Mother Virgina And Father L.D Chitwood moved to Dallas Texas, while she was in grade school. At this time, she met her lifelong best friend Patsy. Patsy and Jackie have always remained the best of friends, Even though they would lose touch every now and again. Fate always found a way to reconnect them and restart them where they left off.
After graduating from South Oak Cliff High School in 1958, Jackie moved to Wichita Falls, TX to attend school. While there she worked at a beauty salon giving pedicures. During this time in Wichita Falls, she met the love of her life Joseph Schimpf. Joe was stationed at Sheppard Air Force Base, and by 1960 they knew there were going to spend the rest of their lives together and were married on May 25th. Their new lives together started off traveling the world with the Air Force. Jackie & Joe had their first three sons, Joey, Jeff & Jon before being stationed in Berlin, Germany in 1964. By 1968 they were transferred back to the states, when their son number four (Jack) was born shortly after Joe returned from Vietnam. She raised four big strapping boys while Joe was on tours between Vietnam, Turkey and Alaska. They eventually settled in their planned to be forever home in Widefield Colorado. Then there was an unfortunate event that occurred, the BIG FIRE, causing them to find another forever home. Jackie and Joe moved to Southern Colorado Springs.
Jackie loved her life at home and job, where she worked at the Valley Bank in Security for about 15 years. Once they both retired, they took time to travel and enjoy life together. Both Joe and Jackie attended PPCC for a semester which they seemed to make more friends then focus on there studies. Jackie loved being around people, especially all her friends and family, as well as cooking, sewing and being a VOLUNTEER at the local VA. She really enjoyed talking to everyone, but her favorite conversations were with the men and women who served our country, whom she met at the VA Clinic. Jackie never met a stranger! She never had a dull moment in her life. Anytime her grand kids were around you’d always find “Oma” with one of the listed grandchildren Sara, Katie, Kayla or Tyler in the Kitchen or working on crafts in her “Do Room”
Mildred Jackie Schimpf lost the love of her life Joseph H Schimpf in 2017. She is also preceded by Mother-Virgina Jara, Father- L.D. Chitwood And Brother- Ted Jara. On December 2nd 2019 Jackie followed God's Plan and reunited with Her Husband and family.
She is survived by her four sons: Joseph (Rhonda), Jefferey (Linda), Jon (Denise) & Jack (April) along with 3 granddaughters, 1 grandson, 1 great granddaughter and many many more friends and family.
Jackie would not want us to be sad, but rather embrace life as she did. Help others as much as you can, do as much as you can for others and live life one day at a time.
