Mimi Lintott Spruiell, 63, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, passed away peacefully on October 20, 2025, after courageously living with Huntington’s Disease for more than twenty years. Though her long battle has ended, Mimi is now free and joyful again—reunited with her beloved family and friends, both furry and human, who went before her.
Mimi was born on September 21, 1962, in Alexandria, Louisiana, to John Lintott and Ginger Schroeder. She grew up in Pasadena, Texas, where her spirited energy and zest for life shone brightly. As a 1980 graduate of Sam Rayburn High School, Mimi was a natural leader—actively involved in numerous student organizations and serving as a varsity cheerleader, always rallying others with her infectious energy. She went on to attend the University of Texas, graduating in 1986, and remained a dedicated Longhorn fan throughout her life—always cheering on her team with passion and pride. While at UT, Mimi was actively involved in many organizations, including Big Brothers Big Sisters, where she found great joy in serving as a mentor and guiding young people for many years.
Mimi built a successful career as a computer programmer for MidCon Corporation/Natural Gas Pipeline Company of America, where she was known for her intelligence, diligence, and sense of humor.
In 1993, Mimi married the love of her life, Joe Spruiell. Ever the creative soul, Mimi designed and made her own wedding dress, a reflection of her incredible skill as a seamstress and her artistic eye for beauty. In 1998, Mimi and Joe moved to Colorado Springs, where they spent countless weekends camping, traveling, and embracing the wonder of life together.
Mimi was vibrant, lively, and a little bit crazy in the best way—she had a rare gift for making life more fun for everyone around her. Her kindness and compassion extended to all, especially to animals. A devoted animal lover, Mimi fostered and adopted many dogs and cats over the years, each one finding a loving home in her care.
Always full of creativity and curiosity, Mimi attended acting school in her spare time. She appeared in multiple advertisements, movies, stage performances, and even an opera.
Mimi was preceded in death by her mother, Ginger Schroeder. She is survived by her devoted husband, Joe Spruiell; her father, John Lintott; her sister, Molly Lintott Alvarado; nephews Michael Alvarado, Will Clapp, Steve Smith, and Ben Spruiell; nieces Alyssa Alvarado, Jamie Winters, Katie Daugherty, Lara Williams, and Megan Spruiell—along with countless friends and loved ones who will forever cherish her memory.
Mimi’s warmth, humor, creativity, and boundless love made the world brighter for everyone lucky enough to know her. Her laughter and light will live on in the hearts of all who loved her.
