

“Coco”
Moises J. Portillos, age 92, passed away on August 9, 2012, at home with his family at his side. Moises was born and raised in Springer, New Mexico on May 3, 1920 to Julian Portillos and Esther Pacheco both deceased. Preceding him in death are the love of his life, Lenora E. Abeyta on November 8, 2006; three siblings, Rafela Manchego, Lucy DeBerg and Bertha Trujillo; two sons, Daniel C. Portillos and Jesus Portillos; and two daughters, Francis Portillos and Dorthy Portillos. He served in the Army-Air Corp during WWII as a drill instructor of military police. Moises is survived by six children: Prescilla (Andres) Barrera, Linda Luicille Portillos, Daniel (Rosemary) Portillos, all of Colorado Springs, Lamberto (Martha) Portillos of Trinidad, Colorado, Marie Haselwood of Millbrook, Alabama and Theresa Portillos of Catula, Georgia; 11 grand-children, 17 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Moises worked for BH Baker Construction (1959) when the Air Force Academy first started being built. He was a heavy equipment operator and belonged to Local 9 Union Operator Engineers.
Moises loves sports. He loved to watch the Broncos and Colorado Rockies. He now has the best seat in the house. He was an amateur boxer, football and baseball player. He also liked to cook for his family.

Visitation will be held 5:00 p.m. Friday, August 17, 2012 with Rosary at 6:00 pm at Swan Law Funeral Directors. Celebration of Life is 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 18, 2012, at Divine Redeemer Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
