Nancy (Athanasia) Pulos Ashmore, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away peacefully on September 23, 2018, in Colorado Springs, Colorado. She was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, January 17, 1926, the second of two children born to the late John and Diana Pulos.
After graduating as salutatorian of her high school class, Nancy went to work for the U.S. Navy Department for the Inspector of Naval Material. When WWII was over, she worked as a switchboard operator for the telephone company, first in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, then in Hollywood, California. After a vacation to sunny California, she stayed and never went back to those cold, snowy winters.
After marrying Leonard Robert Ashmore in 1956, she helped him with his photography business, and continued working as a telephone operator at local hospitals in the San Fernando Valley.
She loved her family and friends, and the arts. Her Christian faith was very important to her. She always had a smile and a kind word for everyone.
Nancy leaves behind loving children, Athena (and Jim) Baschal of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Michael (and Brenda) Ashmore of West Hills, California; precious grandchildren, Chelsea, Brendan, and Courtney MacMillan, Berkley Ashmore, Erin and Robin Baschal; a wonderful niece, Joan Peifer (and Bill Romberg) of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and other family members. She is preceded in death by beloved parents John and Diana Pulos; her adored sister Happiness Peifer; and her cherished husband Leonard Ashmore.
A Celebration of Life is scheduled for Sunday, September 30, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. at Swan Law Chapel, 501 N. Cascade Avenue, Colorado Springs, Colorado.
