Born on October 11, 1939, in Brownsville, Texas, Nora was the youngest of five children born to Frank and Uzera Patterson. She grew up in Big Spring, Texas, alongside her siblings Ella Craft, Lela Murphy, Lester Patterson, and Robert Patterson. Nora graduated from Big Spring High School in 1958. Throughout her youth, she cultivated a love for cooking, oil painting, and gardening, and she later enjoyed volunteering with School District 11.
In 1964, Nora met the love of her life, Joseph (Joe) Malatino, in Big Spring, Texas. They married that same year in Panama City, Florida, and eventually made their home in Colorado Springs, where they raised their two children, Bennie and Anna Maria Malatino. As a family, they traveled often and were active members of the Catholic Church, the American Italian Club, and various Air Force community circles.
Nora’s kitchen was the heart of her home. Her traditional Sunday dinners brought family and friends together week after week. Her Pineapple Upside-Down Cake and New York–style cheesecakes became beloved staples, remembered fondly by all who gathered at her table.
After raising her children, Nora returned to the workforce with the 4th Judicial Court, where she dedicated 20 years of service before retiring. Her commitment, professionalism, and resilience were evident in all she did.
Nora is survived by her husband Joe, her children Bennie and Anna Maria, and her sisters Ella and Lela. She is preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Uzera Patterson, and her brothers, Robert and Lester Patterson.
Her warmth, generosity, and unwavering love for her family will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
Services will be held.
