Norma S Colon

Norma Suvine Colon, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother passed away peacefully on February 27, 2018 in Colorado Springs, CO. She was born in Many, LA on September 4, 1930 to the late Otha Curtis and Alice Faye Lemons.

Norma graduated from Stamps High School (Stamps, AR) in 1948. After graduation, she moved to Bossier City, LA to work for the state of LA. She married William (Bill) Colon Sr. on January 22, 1951 in Marshall, TX and they were married for 52 years.

Bill and Norma’s Air Force journey took them to Topeka, KS; Lisbon, Portugal; Fort Walton Beach, FL; Tacoma, WA; Frankfurt, Germany; and Key West, FL. In 1971 they moved to Malvern, PA where Bill taught AFJROTC (later in Cherry Hill, NJ) and Norma was the Office Manager for East Coast Sales, Inc. in Atglen, PA. In 1995 they moved and retired in Bossier City, LA.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Colon Sr, her daughter Cynthia Ann Gay, her father Otha Curtis Lemons, her mother Alice Faye Lemons, and two sisters Dorothy Maye Eddy and Mary Frances Lemons.

Norma’s devotion to the Lord, her family, and close friends was clearly demonstrated by her kindness, generosity, and a special smile. Her legacy will be remembered by many who knew her as one who dearly loved her family and gave unselfishly to others without expecting anything in return.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory a son, William (Teresa) Colon Jr. of Colorado Springs, CO; a son-in-law Tommy Gay of Shreveport, LA; precious grandchildren Ryan (Emily) Pennywell, Lindsey (Jake) Sittig, Marshall (Morgan) Burton, Justin (Ashley) Colon, Sara Colon, Jared (Angela) Colon and nine great grandchildren.

A visitation and memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 10, 2018 at the Smith Funeral Home in Stamps, AR. Visitation will begin at 1:30 p.m. followed by the memorial service at 2:00 p.m. Officiating will be Danny Eddy, nephew of Norma. Burial will follow at the Shiloh Cemetery in Buckner, AR.
