Loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, died in her home on January 8, 2018. Norma was a long-time resident of Colorado Springs. She was born in Louisville, KY on June 12, 1922 to William Shrive and Carrie Durham. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband of almost 70 years, A. E. (Jack) Holm, and younger sister, Helen Heim.
She is survived by her four children; Bill (and wife Karen) of Pasco, WA; Sandra Hunt (and husband John) of Littleton, CO; Sharon Reichart (and husband Tom) of Atlanta, GA; and son Jack (and wife Cathi) of Colorado Springs, CO. She has 9 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and 5 great-great grandchildren.
Norma was a career army wife for over 20 years. She and A. E. (Jack) lived in Kentucky, California, Colorado, Germany, and Kansas (just to name a few), before retiring back to Colorado Springs in 1962, raising their four children along the way.
Norma loved her flower gardens especially her violets, orchids, and roses. She was an avid bowler in her younger years, competing in a number of leagues in Colorado Springs. She was the city bowling champion a number of years in her age group, bowling up until her mid-80s. She also enjoyed volunteering weekly at Penrose Community Hospital, giving hundreds of hours to helping others. She was passionate about her time in the kitchen, making memorable Sunday night family dinners. Her cookies, cream puffs, and rum cakes were family favorites.
She will be missed most for her warm and kind smile, her big hugs, and her putting her family needs before her own. She is to be interned at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver alongside her husband, Captain A. E. (Jack) Holm. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in her name to the Pikes Peak Hospice Foundation.
