Olive Karraker

In 1948, she graduated from London Teacher’s Normal School and began her teaching career in several of the one room schools in the Wheatley Ontario area. She later taught n the Windsor school system for several years before coming to Colorado as the wife of Robert G. Karraker.

Bob and Olive were married in First Baptist Church of Wheatley, Ontario on June 17, 1961 and she became a wife and mother to Kristine who was almost four years old. They were blessed with a son, Gregory and another daughter, Leslie Ann.

Olive enjoyed reading, sewing, various crafts, playing the piano and organ, cooking and baking and entertaining until she was no longer able to do so. She was organist at the First Baptist Church in Woodland Park for several years and also a Sunday school teacher. For fifteen years, Olive was a Teacher’s Assistant at Gateway and Columbine Elementary Schools in Woodland Park. She was selected as Colorado’s Outstanding Classified School Employee in 1990. She retired from the Woodland Park School District in 1991.

Olive and Bob spent some of the winter months in Florida, with her sister and husband and later in Arizona.

Olive leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Bob; daughters, Kristine Barber (Blaine), Leslie Ann (Gregory); son, Gregory (Elizabeth); seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

The family will receive visitors at Swan Law Funeral Directors, Sunday May 6, 2012 from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. Services will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday, May 7, 2012 at Circle Drive Baptist Church with burial to follow at Memorial Gardens.
