Oscar Lorrain Frank was born 9/3/1932 to William Oscar and Blanche Ellen Frank on a farm near Bird City, KS. He attended a one-room country school until 8th grade when his family moved to another farm closer to Goodland, KS, finishing 10th grade. Due to asthma, his parents felt it would be best for him to move to Colorado Springs where he attended Bible Training High School to finish high school, graduating in 1950 having been involved in various student activities including the quartet and choir. In 1951 he began attending Blairs Business College where he graduated with a finance degree.
Also in 1951 he married his high school sweetheart June Roberson (he would joke that June was the first and last person he ever dated) and they settled in Colorado Springs. In April 2021 they celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary. He and June had 4 children; Cheryl, Marcia, Stanley, and Steven.
In the mid 1950s Oscar started a successful drywall contracting business which he owned and operated for over 30 years. Retiring in the late 1980s Oscar and June purchased an RV and traveled all over from California to Florida providing construction aid for over 40 projects with churches, missions, and ministry organizations. If when he got there they didn’t have some of the materials needed for the job, he went out and purchased it to help take care of their needs.
Oscar served the Wesleyan denomination as a church leader on the local, district, and general boards and the Oklahoma Wesleyan University board. He was elected alumnus of the year for Oklahoma Wesleyan University and also elected as an emeritus member to the OWU board. He also served on the Brainard Indian Missions board.
He loved flying (and obtained his pilot’s license), listening to sacred/gospel music, photography, and working with photos/videos on the computer.
Oscar also loved going to church. One of his children asked once, “Do we have to go to church tonight?” and Oscar’s response was, “We GET to go to Church tonight.” He was a faithful servant, volunteering as a Sunday school teacher, Sunday school superintendent, singing in the choir, and helping to build and maintain the churches he attended.
In spite of all his responsibilities and busyness of life, Oscar was faithful to his family and worked diligently to provide and care for them. He loved God, his family, and serving others.
Oscar is preceded in death by parents William Oscar and Blanche Ellen Frank, brother Raymond Frank, and son Stanley Frank. He is survived by his wife June, brother Alvin Frank, children Cheryl (Terry) Crowe, Marcia (Earl) Jantz, Steven Frank, 14 grandchildren, and 25 great-grandchildren. He was loved by many and will be greatly missed.
