Peggy Lou Slavens, was born June 30, 1930 in South Haven, Kansas to her parents - Sunshine and Lee Clare Popplewell, who have preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Jimmy Popplewell; a sister, Geraldine Goodman, and by a stepchild, Daryl Victor Slavens. She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Howard R. Slavens; a son, Mark Brown; two daughters, Lynn Crowe and Susan Budd; a step-son, Brock Slavens; by 15 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
She worked at the Air Force Academy thrift shop for many years after retiring from civilian payroll at the Air Force Academy. She was a charter member of Family of Christ Lutheran Church, a supporter of Disabled American Veterans and the Humane Society.
Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, March 24, 2018 at 1:00 PM at Family of Christ Lutheran Church. Inurnment will be in the church columbarium.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to either the Family of Christ Lutheran Church or the Rocky Mountain Chapter of the A.L.S. Association.
