Peter J. Hoffman

August 28, 1925 – June 16, 2025
Obituary of Peter J. Hoffman
IN THE CARE OF

Mountain View Funeral & Cremation

Peter John Hoffman (99 yrs), born on August 28, 1925, in Rochester, New York, transitioned to his eternal home on June 16, 2025, from Colorado Springs, CO.

At age 17, with the permission of his parents, Peter deferred his senior year in high school to enlist in the United States Army in 1943 and was deployed to Italy where he was assigned to the 10th Mountain Division, Fifth Army, as an Infantryman. He was later reassigned to 24th Corps, Okinawa where he was a part of the assembly of troops for the invasion forces of Japan. After returning from WW2, Peter completed his GED, attended the Colorado School of Mines and graduated from Denver University. He subsequently attended Denver Seminary (then Conservative Baptist Theological Seminary) and upon graduation in 1957 he re-entered the military for a career as a troop and family Chaplain. He strengthened his service with a master’s in counseling. Peter retired from the US Army in 1975 after serving at 12 military posts, including two tours in the Republic of Vietnam and 10 assignments in the US, Germany and Panama. He then served ten years as a State of Colorado Veterans Employment Counsellor. His life of Christian ministry never ended, and he and Naomi were known for their defense of the unborn, and for their support of conservative values which benefit family, community and nation. They invested generously through numerous Christian charities. In Peter’s last weeks he was still active in thanking and praying blessings over family and his care team whom he deeply appreciated. We will miss you Dad and thank you.

Peter was preceded in death by Naomi, his loving wife and best friend of 62 years. Peter is survived by his four sons and daughters-in-law Stephen and Lynn Hoffman, Daniel and Sue Hoffman, James and Kathy Hoffman, and Philip and Cathleen Hoffman. Peter was blessed with 14 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and one great, great grandchild.
