On January 24, 2024, the world lost a beloved and cherished human being, Phyllis J. Hernigle. She was a loving grandmother who was known for her kind heart and warm smile. Phyllis had retired from her long-time career at the Colorado Gazette newspaper, where she was highly respected for her dedication and hard work.
Phyllis was also a member of the Red Hat Society, a group of women who come together to celebrate life and each other's friendship. She loved to dress up in her signature red hat and purple dresses, bringing joy and laughter wherever she went.
Phyllis was not only a social butterfly, but she was also deeply involved in her community. She was an active member of the VFW, Legion, and Veterans posts, always finding ways to support and honor those who have served our country. In addition to her community involvement, Phyllis was a devoted Christian and enjoyed participating in bible study groups. She found comfort and strength in her faith and was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. Phyllis will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her legacy of love, kindness, and service will live on in the hearts of those she touched.
Phyllis’ favorite hobbies included going out to eat, painting, swimming, and collecting anything and everything related to owls, her favorite animal.
She is also now reunited with her beloved cat Toby, who became her life companion in her later years.
Private service will be held.
