Devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend passed away on October 7th, 2023. Phyllis was born April 27th, 1936 to Andrew and Lillie Thompson in Humbolt, Iowa. Raised on a farm and learning about how far hard work will take you in life.
She married the love of her life, Walter Heslop, on June 12, 1955 until his passing in March of 2022. They had two children Anthony (Tony) and Randall (Randy). The family moved to Colorado Spring in 1963 to better Walter’s health.
Phyllis began working at the Exchange National Bank in 1964 starting her 35 year career with the bank in the Proof Department and working her way up to Assistant Vice President before her retirement in 2000. She taught with Jr. Achievement, Sunday School and volunteered with the Assistance League and was past president of the Quota Club of Colorado Springs.
She is survived by her son Tony and his wife Tuesday (Lungren) Heslop, Grandsons Taylor Heslop, Connor Heslop, John Adam Kinsner and Larry Kinsner, Sister Barbara (Thompson) and her husband Mike Zabel, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her Husband, Walter Heslop, Parents Andrew and Lillie Thompson, Brothers Gene Ruby, Lyle Thompson, Dennis Thompson, and Kenneth Thompson, Sister Evonne (Thompson) Cooper and her Son Randy Heslop.
A funeral service will be held Friday October 13th at 2:00pm at Vista Grande Baptist Church 5680 Stetson Hills Blvd Colorado Springs. Phyllis’s favorite color was purple, please feel free to wear something purple at the service.
