Phyllis Murphey, cherished mother and grandmother, and longtime resident of Colorado
Springs, CO was called to be with the Lord on March 24, 2020 while surrounded by loved ones.
Phyllis was born on June 7, 1935 to Frances and Homer Mapes.
She is survived by her son Ron Moreland, daughter Kim Robinson; granddaughters Shannon
Robinson, Amber Murphy, Ashley Clowe, and Taylor Ware; five great-grandchildren - Bayleigh,
Taeven, Skylynn, Hayden, and Braelyn. She is preceded in death by her husband Larry
Murphey, son Rick Blakney, and grandson Chad Blakney.
Phyllis enjoyed riding horses, country music, square dancing, and spending time with family and
friends. She was known for being the “glue” of her family, had a giving spirit, always wanting to
help anyone in need, a kind heart, and an infectious smile. She had a longtime career at ITU
and developed many longtime friendships in her time there. She had an incredible love for
animals, particularly her favorite pup, Annie. She donated to the humane society and other
animal shelters.
She was loved beyond words and will be missed dearly by all who knew her.
