Born in Missouri in 1910 Reba’s mother and father moved with their five children to Ordway, Colorado at a physician’s recommendation. Despite their move to more favorable environs her mother died from consumption when Reba was only nine years old. Reba was an excellent student and graduated valedictorian of her high school class. She earned a college scholarship and graduated from Colorado State Teacher’s College in Greeley (University of Northern Colorado). After graduation she worked for two years in Manitou. Her first teaching job was in a one-room school in Red Feathers Lakes where she met her husband, Joseph M. Gleeson (1911-1965), who was a CCC program instructor. Their 29 year marriage was blessed with seven children, Margaret Mae, Patricia Jean, Michael Joseph, William Thomas, Daniel John, Timothy Martin, and David Matthew. She is survived by five children—Margaret, Michael, William, Timothy, and David; 19 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren, and seven great great grandchildren.
Reba’s life as Mrs. Gleeson was involved with the parish and motherly pursuits. In retirement Reba worked in St. Mary’s High School cafeteria, where she fondly remembered her specialty – hot rolls. Her activities included quilting, travel, gardening, and volunteer work for the church.
