Regis W Larouere, beloved husband, father and grandfather passed away in Colorado Springs CO on Jan 14, 2021. He was born on March 2, 1938, he was the oldest of 8 children to the late Regis P and Alice M Larouere.
Regis graduated from Franklin Regional High School in 1956. In 1959, he met his beloved wife, Shirley at a bowling picnic, where their love story began. They married after her nursing school graduation in 1963. He worked for various companies including Westinghouse and Robicon Corporation. He attended and graduated from Seton Hill University in 1989 with an Associate Degree in Computer Science. During the course of their lives together, they raised 3 children. They were a dynamic couple who supported each other no matter what. The love that they shared has been passed down through the generations and will live on through us!
Regis and Shirley fulfilled their retirement dream of moving to Colorado shortly after his retirement. They enjoyed many travel and cruising adventures throughout their retirement adding over 25 cruises to the list along with many trips in the US and overseas.
Regis was devoted to his faith and his church – Our Lady of the Pines. He served throughout his life as an alter server as a child in Pittsburgh, minister of Communion, Marriage Prep counselor and as a 3rd degree Knight of Columbus.
He was a volunteer for over 20 years for the Pikes Peak Trolley and Interburban Railway. He achieved a life long desire to operate the trolley as a Motorman. He also was seen behind the scenes working on the trollies, giving expert tours to visitors and being a jack of all trades.
He was involved in many other charitable organizations in his lifetime. He taught all of his family a spirit of service and compassion to carry on his legacy.
Regis leaves behind his cherished wife of 58 years, Shirley and his loving children: Marlene Van Sickle (Ron) of Austin TX, Kathy Larouere of Monument CO, Edward Larouere (Angelina) of Scottsdale AZ. He also leaves behind his adoring grandchildren: Julia (Josh), Kaylynn (John), Sara, Patricia (Patrick), Gabrielle, and Kassandra. Also we don’t want to forget his great grandchild: Rowen.
He joins his late brother, Joseph and sister, Marie in their heavenly reward.
He leaves behind his surviving siblings: Thomas (Judy), Robert, James, John and Betty Ann along with many nieces and nephews. There is a very long list of friends, as well as a beautiful legacy that will carry on through all the lives he has touched!
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his honor to Our Lady of the Pines Catholic Church, Black Forest CO or Pikes Peak Trolley and Interburban Railway, Colorado Springs CO.
