Richard worked as an automotive mechanic for years before becoming a tool distributor for Mac Tools and Cornwell Tools. Richard enjoyed restoring classic cars in his spare time. After Richard retired he volunteered at One Nation Walking Together, an organization supporting Native Americans.
Richard is survived by a daughter, Karee Leigh Wandell, two sons, Grant Richard Ackerman and Mark David Ackerman, and a grandson, Richard Martin Noah Ackerman. Richard was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Barbara Nan Ackerman, his parents, Murton and Edna Ackerman, and a daughter, Karen Lynn Ackerman.
Richard did not want any funeral services.
Richard will be laid to rest at Evergreen Cemetery, 1005 Hancock Expressway, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80903.
