Richard Lawrence Howard of Colorado Springs, CO went home to Jesus on September 30, 2021, after a sudden, unexpected illness. He was gifted with an infectious smile and quick wit that warmly and instantly drew others to him.
Richard was born on May 20, 1953, in Culver City, California. He accepted Christ as his Savior in his teens and was very involved with his church youth group. His love of music emerged during his college years when he and some church friends started New Generation, a Christian singing group ministering to local churches.
He graduated from the University of Houston with a bachelor's degree in Business Administration with a Logistics emphasis.
Richard met his wife, Barbara at Capernwray Bible School in Carnforth, England, in the spring of 1980, and they were married in California in 1981. They moved to Colorado Springs in 1990, when his defense contract employer relocated his division to the area, where they have happily resided since.
Richard loved to play volleyball and many outdoors sports, but his immense passion was for the game of golf. Both he and Barbara found joy in attending and being involved with their church body. Richard retired in 2017 from his sales position with an agricultural/fertilizer company near Monument, CO.
Richard was particularly fond of his 10 nephews and nieces along with the children/grandchildren of his closest friends. Richard’s family and friends will miss him more than words can say.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Delmar and Marie Howard, his sister Patti Wagner, and his brother Stanley Howard, all from Texas.
A Memorial Service to honor Richard is planned for 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 2, 2021, Woodmen Valley Chapel - Stone Chapel, 280 E. Woodmen Rd, Colorado Springs, Colorado. Light reception to follow. "For those unable to attend in person, LiveStreaming will be available."
