Robert D. (Bob) Beach, husband of 65 years, father of four children, grandfather of seven, and great-grandfather of two, passed away on December 27th in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Bob was born in Hiawatha, Kansas on April 24, 1927 the fourth of five children born to Ruby and Oliver Beach.
Bob grew up during the great depression and learned the value of hard work and providing for his family. He left school early to serve his country as a machinist’s mate third-class and returned to complete his Bachelor’s degree in Business at Baker University, Baldwin City, Kansas. While there he met and married his wife Lela Mae (Lee) Miller, who survives him.
Bob was a dedicated family man, who provided for his family by working as a wholesale hardware sales representative for thirty-one years. He and Lee made Colorado Springs their second home living here for the past forty-six years. In retirement he found time to pursue his passion for woodworking and created countless numbers of keepsakes for the family including, grandfather clocks, a roll-top desk, dressers, end tables and the granddaughters’ precious jewelry boxes.
Bob leaves behind, his wife Lee; children, Rex, Roger, Russ and Rhonda, and their spouses; and nine grand and great-grandchildren.
Visitation will take place on Wednesday January 2nd, from 7:00 – 9:00 pm, at Swan-Law Funeral Directors, 501 North Cascade Avenue, Colorado Springs. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 3rd, at 10:30 at First United Methodist Church’s - Lemberg Chapel - 420 N Nevada Ave, Colorado Springs, CO.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to either the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.
