

Robert E. Chesmore, 84, beloved father and grandfather, passed away peacefully October 11, 2011 at Pikes Peak Hospice, Colorado Springs, Colorado, surrounded by family. Bob was born in Quasqueton, Iowa, on November 19, 1926, to the late Genevieve (Ondler) and Claude Hinsdale Chesmore. He spent his childhood years in Quasky, Coggon, Independence and Ottumwa, graduating from high school there in 1944. Bob attended college at the University of Iowa and the University of Wyoming.
He served in the United States Army and was stationed in the Phillipines. On August 23, 1952, he married Barbara Helen Pearson in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. They had three children Laura, Jenny and Steve. Bob was employed by State Farm Insurance Company for 39 years. He began as an agent and was soon transferred to Phoenix, Arizona, to take on the Agency Manager position in the Sunland Office. In 1965, he became an Agency Director at the State Farm Regional Office in Greeley, Colorado. Bob returned to agency and chose to relocate in the Colorado Springs area.
He loved his home in Woodland Park where he could see Pike's Peak from his living room window each day. He enjoyed being outdoors while fishing, hunting, camping and traveling around the world. Bob had a special interest in metal-detecting and goldpanning, which he shared with his children. He held several local, state, national and world championship titles for his speed-panning skills. Bob got great joy from belonging to the Gold Prospectors Club. He was a 32nd degree Mason and a Shriner for over 50 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Barbara, and his caring step-mother, Freeda M. Lyons. Bob is survived by his wife, Glenda, and his brother, Terry. He leaves behind to cherish his memory 3 loving children, Laura Anne More, Greeley, Colorado; Jennifer Lynn (Geno) Fenninger, Colorado Springs, Colorado; Steven Robert Chesmore, Colorado Springs, Colorado; 5 grandchildren, Laura's children: Alicia (Andrew) Hassinger and Christopher More; Jenny's children: Madison Fenninger and Kreider Fenninger; and Steve's daughter: Hailey Lasha; and 2 great-grandchildren, Halle and Everett Hassinger. Fondly known as "Papa", he will be remembered for his sense of humor by all who knew him.
