

Robert Eugene Howell was born November 22, 1926 in Lancaster, Missouri to Parents Lela and William Howell. Robert had a brother William and four sisters Mary, Susie, Shirley and Linda. At 93 years old Robert was the oldest surviving member of his family. Robert served Honorably in the United States Army from 1943 through 1945. Robert married Lois Francis Sprouse on February 27, 1948 together they had five children Roberta, Mary Jo, Janice, Judy and Jerry. In the early years Robert and Lois lived in Ottumwa, Iowa, Robert worked for John Deere Equipment Company while Lois worked at the local movie theater concession stand. In 1951, Bob and Lois moved their small but growing family to the vicinity of Souix City, Iowa where Robert worked on a farm and Lois was a stay at home mom caring for their small family. In 1952, Bob and Lois moved their small family to Lancaster, Missouri where Robert worked at a local Gas Station and Lois continued to care for their children. From 1952 through 1958 Robert and Lois continued to grow their family. Now with a family of seven Robert and Lois moved to Millersburg, Iowa where Robert worked on a very large turkey farm while Lois cared for their family until 1971, when Robert and Lois moved their family to Colorado Springs, Colorado due to Lois’ health. From 1971 until 1991 Robert worked for Colorado Springs Utilities (Underground Electric) as a backhoe operator, and Lois worked at Loo-Art (Current, Inc) from 1971 -1988. Throughout they continued to care for and provide for their unmarried children (Judy and Jerry) and love and cherish their grandchildren. Robert, Lois and their family were avid bowlers in many of the Colorado Springs Bowling centers commonly referred to as (The Brunswick Family). Robert and Lois also spent many days after retirement fishing together in the local reservoirs catching trout, northern pike and salmon. Robert and Lois continued to bowl on leagues and rack up great bowling scores and win bowling awards and accolades throughout the years. Robert left a legacy as a legend in the Colorado Springs bowling community. From 1995 -2005 Robert was tired of retirement and decided to go to work for Phil Long Ford driving new cars between Colorado Springs and Denver dealerships. Throughout the years Robert and Lois’ family continued to grow adding (9)-grandchildren, (22) great grandchildren and (3) great great grandchildren. Robert was a very proud man, a very hard worker, a loving and devoted husband, strict but fair father, a cherished and loved grandfather, great grandfather and great great grandfather. Robert and Lois were married for almost 72 years and loved one another dearly.
