Bob was born on December 31, 1938, in Johnstown, New York, to Henry and Helen Veghte. Growing up in upstate New York, he developed a lifelong love of tinkering with electronics, fixing things, and working on anything mechanical. After graduating from high school, he earned an associate degree in electronics and worked a variety of jobs before meeting the love of his life, Judy Pierce, at a church roller-skating event.
Bob and Judy fell deeply in love and waited until Judy completed her nursing degree before marrying on September 9, 1962. Together, they began a life filled with love, hard work, and adventure.
Their adventures took them to North Carolina, where they built a rabbit ranch and welcomed their two children, Carla and Bobby. Bob later ventured into real estate and business. The family moved to Colorado in 1973.
Bob and Judy loved making Colorado their home. They enjoyed the outdoors together, spending time camping, backpacking, and hiking most of Colorado’s fourteeners. Through every adventure, family remained at the center of Bob’s life. He was an excellent cook and treasured the time spent gathered around the table with those he loved.
Bob leaves behind his devoted wife of 65 years, Judy Veghte; his loving children, Carla (Dan) Parmentier of Falcon, Colorado, and Robert (Karyn) Veghte of Colorado Springs, Colorado; his cherished grandchildren, Audrey (Quentin) Choy, Adrian Veghte, and Aaron Veghte; his sister, Carol Bader; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Bob will be laid to rest in a private family service at Eastonville cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Springs Rescue Mission.
Bob will be remembered for his ingenuity, adventurous spirit, devotion to his family, and the life he and Judy built together. His love will live on in the many memories and lasting bonds he leaves behind.
