

Rodney E. (Rod) Doan United States Air Force Chief Master Sergeant (retired), Rodney E. Doan, a longtime resident of Colorado Springs passed away on July 24, 2015 from complications of Acute Myeloid Leukemia. Services will be held at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 4125 Constitution Ave, Colorado Springs, CO. 80910, on Wednesday, July 29, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. visitation with funeral to follow at 11:00 a.m. and graveside service with Military Honors to proceed at Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 3825 Airport Road, Colorado Springs, CO. 80910. Ron was born to George G. Doan and Esther Mae (Pliler) Doan on 27 October, 1943 in Stafford, KS. He grew up in Preston, Kansas. Rod was predeceased by his parents, Brother George G. Doan, Jr. and Sister Paula N. (Doan) Goodale. Rod is survived by his wife of 45 years, Marda L. (Lehman) Doan, sons Adam and Stephen (Jennifer), and granddaughter Bailie Shay McCreary. Rod graduated from Preston High School in 1961, he attended and graduated from Pratt Junior College, Pratt, KS in 1963 and attended Kansas State University from 1963 to 1965. Rod enlisted in the United States Air Force on 13 January, 1966. He spent almost 23 years in Supply and Logistics with the Air Force retiring on 31 December 1988. Rod met and married the love of his life at Peterson Field, Colorado Springs, CO; Headquarters ADCOM, Colorado Springs, CO; 322 Supply Sq, Rhein Main AB, Germany; 314 Airlift Wing, Keflavik, Iceland; and Headquarters, AF Space Command, Colorado Springs, CO. Luckily he spent 17 of his 23 years in the Air Force in the Colorado Springs area. Upon retirement from the Air Force, Rod worked for Space Mark, Inc./SMI International in Logistics and as Vice President of Operations From February 1989 to 31 December 2003. After retirement from his working careers, he volunteered with Silver Key Senior Services Transportation department for 11 years enjoying serving the seniors of our community. He got to hear and tell a lot of stories of his many years. Rod’s many joys included bowling, golf, fishing and hunting with many friends and family throughout his life. No flowers please.
