Ronald (Ron) Barnes, 79, of Colorado Springs departed this life on April 26, 2026. He was born November 25,1946 in Jonesboro, Arkansas to Harry and Eva Dee Barnes. He is survived by his wife, Cheryl (Buzbee) Barnes; daughter, Rhonda Crandall (Todd); son Kevin Barnes; grandchildren Jordyn Miller (Beau), Taylor Begler (Geoff), Baylee Barnes; and great-grandchildren, Damian, Oaklynn, and Ayla Miller and Lainey Begler; his brother, Dale Barnes (Dottie) of Jonesboro, Arkansas.
Ron proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1969-1990 with two tours of duty at the USAFA. He worked in the Superintendent’s Office during his first tour, and he was in charge of booking entertainment for the cadets during his second tour. In this position, Ron was able to meet many entertainers and developed a lasting friendship with Charlie Daniels. He concluded his distinguished military career at Peterson AFB.
He was an avid golfer and worked part-time at many golf courses, while also serving in the Air Force. After his retirement from the Air Force, he was employed full-time as the Operations Manager at the Eisenhower Golf Club, where he retired in 2011. The Eisenhower Golf Club was more than a workplace to Ron—it was his second home, where he found great joy, meaningful friendships, and community.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests memorial contributions be made to the Springs Rescue Mission or American Cancer Society in remembrance of Ron.
