Ronald Clarence Lee, a devoted father, loving husband, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on June 8, 2025, at the age of 84. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Helen Lee; father, Clarence Baird Lee; his beloved wife, Linda Hipwell Lee; and his brother, Laurence Arthur Lee. Ron is survived by his three daughters, Wendy Barnett (Darrell), Amy Gove (Michael), and Rebecca Wabst (Michael). He is also survived by nine grandchildren; Bradley, Joshua, Nathan, Amanda, Hayden, Ace, Connor, Archer and Griffin.
Born in Santa Monica, California, Ron spent his formative years in Nephi, Utah. He honorably served in the U.S. Navy as a radioman, carrying with him a love for amateur radio throughout his life. After marrying Linda, he moved their young family to Annapolis, Maryland, where he worked with ARINC for many years. Ron later embraced entrepreneurship, owning and publishing Homes & Land magazine of Anne Arundel County with help from Linda. Together, they built a thriving business, blending hard work with the warmth of a family raising their three daughters there until they sold the company and settled in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
In Colorado Springs Ron continued on in some entrepreneurial efforts that included an online store. He worked for Compaq for several years as well but his true passion was in serving the community. Ron contributed much of his free time in volunteer service with the El Paso County Search & Rescue team. He especially enjoyed assisting during the Pikes Peak Hill Climb and contributing to various search and recovery missions across the Front Range.
Ron had a deep love for music, especially the rich sounds of bluegrass and country western. While living in Colorado, he devoted himself to the Buffalo Grass Acoustic Society, where he took great pride in booking concerts that brought the joy of live music to so many. His dedication helped foster a welcoming community of music lovers and kept the spirit of Americana alive through unforgettable performances and gatherings. Ron fostered and supported a unique love of music in each of his grandchildren, all of whom share a variety of musical talent.
Known for his gentle demeanor, unwavering values, and quiet wit, Ron had a way of making everyone feel at ease. Whether offering a warm smile, a listening ear, or a thoughtful story, he brought light into the lives of others.
A celebration of Ron's life will be held June 16, 2025, where family and friends will gather to share stories, laughter, and the love that continues to connect them. Ron’s final resting place will be beside his dear wife Linda and in view of Pikes Peak at Evergreen Cemetery in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
He may be gone from our sight, but never from our hearts.
