She was born at home on November 19, 1930, to the late James R. and Marie Belt Gilland, in Colorado Springs, Colorado. She was one of nine children. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Floyd R. Miller, son Dwayne L. Miller, daughter-in-law Bette K. Miller, granddaughter Cori M. Miller, son-in-law David R. Lemieux; brothers, sisters and in-laws James W. (Mary) Gilland, Robert A. (Norma) Gilland, Paul W. Gile, Eugene (Evelyn) (Arkie) Gilland, Charles A. (Janice) Gilland, Marcella (Sylvan) Gilland, sister Ellen (Elly) M. (Hencle) (Mutt) Jones and step-son Raymond L. Washburn.
Rosie grew up on the west side of Colorado Springs. She married her husband, Floyd R. Miller in Raton, New Mexico on December 31, 1948. They had 4 children. Rosie was a faithful follower of her Lord, Jesus Christ. She was a member of First Southern Baptist Church (Now Cornerstone Church) for many years. She was a faithful servant of her church, volunteering in the nursery, kitchen, Awana and youth ministries, nursing home Bible studies, and church office, where she helped meet administrative needs.
She would have made an exceptional nurse. She instinctively cared for everyone around her—not only tending to the needs of her immediate family, but also her extended relatives and neighbors. Whether it was a skinned knee, a suspected broken bone, or a childhood fever, she was the one people turned to for comfort and advice.
With nimble fingers and a patient heart, she stitched love into everything she made. Her hand-sewn, hand-quilted quilts were works of art. She delighted in sewing dresses for her daughters and designing imaginative doll clothes - from elegant Barbie mink coats to tiny knitted slippers. Whether crafting a lace chapel from icing or creating a new Christmas ornament each year, she found joy in making loveliness for others.
Known for her exceptional cooking, Rosie developed her talent in the kitchen at an early age as one of nine children. Her specialties included cheese fondue, Chinese dishes, homemade noodles, cakes, pies, and candies like caramels and toffee. Her culinary talents were so admired that her grandchildren once joked about opening a restaurant near their high schools. While that never happened, her delicious creations and the love she put into every dish will be remembered by all who had the pleasure of enjoying them.
She is survived by her children, Jacque M. Lemieux, Debbie L. Price and Kurtis P. (Maria) Miller; her daughter-in-law Charlene J. Miller; her grandchildren, Cindy A. (David) Ward, Nathaniel R. (Jenna) Lemieux, Juli M. Miller and Dustin A. Price; her great-grand-children, Brandon C. Slocum, Amber C. (Josh) Smith and Robert A. Price; her great-great grand-children Dexter D.
