

On August 28, 2012 Helen Ruth Coleman, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, was called home to join her husband in heaven. She passed peacefully in her home in Colorado Springs, surrounded by her family. Her loved ones will deeply miss the grace bestowed on them by her kind and gentle presence.
Ruth was the youngest of three children born to Fred and Stella Metzner. She was born on the family farm in Preston, Nebraska. She graduated from Palmer High School in Colorado Springs in 1944. After graduation, she met John W. Coleman Jr. at a skating rink. They fell in love and were married on July 5th, 1945. Together they raised six children, all born in Colorado Springs.
Ruth was retired from the United States Post Office. Her hobbies included quilting, table games, word search puzzles, car rides in the mountains and Garden of the Gods, and making her family laugh.
Ruth radiated love and faith. Her kindness and hospitality were ingrained in her nature. Her purity and gentleness set an example that her loved ones can only hope to emulate and pass on. She is survived by six children: Peggy, Pam, Penny, Paul, Preston and Perry; 11 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; and 2 great, great grandchildren.
Visitation will take place on Saturday, September 1st, 2012 at the Swan-Law Funeral Chapel at 501 North Cascade Avenue in Colorado Springs from 2-4 p.m. A Celebration of Life is scheduled at the Swan-Law Funeral Chapel at 1 p.m. on Sunday, September 2nd, 2012.
