Sharon E. Kuykendall (nee Haworth) gently passed from this earth with her husband and two daughters at her bedside on October 29, 2012. Sharon was born on Christmas evening, 1944, in Gothenburg, Nebraska to Don M. and Mildred E. Haworth. The middle child, and only daughter; she had a happy, active childhood in Potter, Nebraska. She graduated from Potter High School, where she participated in everything from talent shows to athletics, was a class officer and homecoming queen. She also attended Kearney State College. In 1967 she married Laverne “Vern” Kuykendall, and their loving marriage spanned over 45 years. In 1977 they adopted their first daughter, Kim. Four years later their family became complete when they adopted daughter Linsey. In 1987 they moved from Davidsonville, MD to West Chester, PA, where Sharon discovered the joy of being a caring and hospital clown. In 2004 she and Vern moved to Monument, CO. Sharon became actively involved with Red Hat Society and the Monument Homemakers Club, and also enjoyed attending the Tri-Lakes Historical Society presentations and concerts in the park. Sharon loved music, nature, photography, making people laugh, and spending time with her friends and family. She was known as Dr. Bumble to her Chester County clowning friends, Lady Laughter to her Red Hat sisters, Wiffer or “My Bride” to her husband, and “the best Mom in the world” to her two girls. No matter what she was called, it was with affection, respect, and love. Sharon will always be remembered as a loving, talented, beautiful, compassionate, humorous, giving woman who positively touched so many people over the years. Sharon is survived by brothers Jamie of Rio Rancho, NM, Ron of Cobb, CA, husband Vern of Monument and daughters Kim of Baltimore, MD and Linsey of Denver, as well as her Grandpets, whom she spoiled silly. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, November 3, 2012 at the Tri-Lakes Methodist Church. Contributions to a Pancreatic Cancer effort such as the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network in Sharon’s name are welcomed.

Sharon well be missed by her family here in Oregon. She came to Oregon to live with my family around 1966/1967 and her first job was at the Arctic Circle drive-in where she met the love of her life Laverne. Tom and I are glad we got to spend a evening with her and Laverne in 2010 when they were out here for a visit. She will be missed. Holly Sawyer (Aloha, OR)

We were so pleased we were able to spend time with you and your family last summer. It was great to have Jamie join us in a fast but wonderful tour of your area. It will be a trip we always remember not only the family time but that our grandson learned how positive people are and can be. Sharon you have made so many people smile over the years and that will not be forgotten.
You are in a great place now, but will be truly missed.
Our prayers go out to the rest of the family.
