Sharon Elaine Lemay

Sharon was born in Riverside, California, to William Francis Keene and Patricia Anne (Baxter) Keene. As the daughter of a military family, she moved frequently during her childhood before eventually making Colorado her home. She spent the majority of her life in Colorado Springs, where she built a life centered around her faith, her family, and serving others.

Sharon was the beloved wife of Brian Mark LeMay and the cherished mother of Angela Grace Robbins and Alyssa Richel LeMay. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Patricia Keene. She is survived by her husband, daughters, siblings Linda Anne Porter, Rachel Frances Keene, and William Francis Keene Jr., and her nine grandchildren: Theodore J. H. LeMay, Cameron J. Robbins, Ellie N. Robbins, Kaycee A. Robbins, Gabriel A. H. Sexton, Serenity J. E. Sexton, Lilah J. E. Sexton, Abigail G. Robbins, and Isaac D. L. Sexton.

Sharon was known by all who knew her for her kindness, humility, gentleness, and servant heart. She was the kind of person who was always willing to help, support, and encourage others. She desired to be remembered simply as a helper—and that is exactly how she will be remembered.

For nearly 39 years, Sharon poured herself into the work of Compassion International, serving from October 1982 through August 2021. Her work with Compassion was a profoundly meaningful part of her life and took her to more than 30 countries. Through her work and relationships, she witnessed firsthand the needs and dignity of people around the world and devoted herself to helping others. Honoring her lifelong commitment to serve, she continued to help others through her church and by becoming a volunteer and board member for the Fresh Start Center, even after her retirement from Compassion.

Sharon and Brian traveled to India, Thailand (twice) and several countries in Africa throughout their marriage. Prior to their marriage, they went on doulas trips to Juarez Mexico, southern Colorado and Montana with First Presbyterian church of Colorado Springs. They also traveled across the US visiting family and friends. They enjoyed trips to the mountains and to Lake McConaughy for camping and water skiing. Together they attended First Presbyterian Church, Fellowship Bible Church and North Springs Alliance Church. They have attended Meridian Christian Church for over 14 years. Brian and Sharon's greatest joy (most of the time) was raising their two daughters.

Sharon's greatest treasures, however, were her family and her faith. She adored her grandchildren and delighted in spending time with them—playing games, working puzzles, making crafts, and simply enjoying their company. When asked what made her laugh, she answered, "Things my grandchildren say and do—they are truly the joy of my life." One of her proudest moments was seeing her daughters believe in Christ and live their lives loving God in tangible ways.

Sharon loved to read and especially loved studying the Bible. She treasured God's creation—in people, birds, flowers, mountains, and wildflowers—and had a particular affection for lilies of the valley, bluebells, columbines, and wildflowers of every kind. She also loved adventure and nature, including the accomplishment of climbing 14,000-foot Mount Windham.

Above all, Sharon loved the Lord and treasured the gift of salvation and eternal life through Jesus Christ. She sought to live her life "to honor God's love and grace for me." The Scriptures that were especially meaningful to her included Psalm 23 and Lamentations 3:22–23.

When asked what she hoped others would learn from her life, Sharon said: "Help others with what you've learned, treat people with kindness, value all people, try to love unconditionally." Those words beautifully reflect the life she lived. She gave generously of herself, encouraged others faithfully, and treated people with dignity and compassion. Her life was a quiet testimony to the love and grace of God.

Sharon's family and friends will deeply miss her kindness, her gentle spirit, her encouragement, her smile, and the way she made people feel cared for. But those who share her hope in Christ grieve with the assurance that death is not the end. The Lord whom Sharon loved has received her into His presence, and the grace she trusted throughout her life is now fully realized.

In lieu of flowers, the family invites those who wish to honor Sharon's memory to make a donation to Compassion International, an organization that was deeply important to her.

A memorial service celebrating Sharon’s life will be held on Thursday, September 24th, 2026, at 11:00AM at Meridian Christian Church, 5450 N Meridian Rd, Peyton, CO 80831.
