She was born on June 6, 1936, in Spokane Washington, to Alfred Caldwell and Ivy Johnson, and grew up in North Hollywood, California. After graduating from high school, she attended Brigham Young University where she received her BA degree. She was greatly influenced by one of her professors, Archibald F. Bennett who was a leader in genealogical research. This is where she developed a life-long love of family history work and genealogical research. After graduation, she returned to California to accept a teaching position which was the beginning of long and successful career as an Elementary school teacher, School Administrator and Elementary school Principal. She continued her education and received her MA from CSUN (formerly known as San Fernando Valley State College). She met and subsequently married Harry Pat Robbins in 1959. They were sealed for time and all eternity in the Los Angeles, California Temple.
Sheila was a devoted, lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Throughout her life, she served faithfully in many callings, including Family History Researcher, as a teacher in the Young Women's organization, Compassionate Service leader and as a Sister Ministering Coordinator. She gave several decades of service to the DUP (Daughters of the Utah Pioneers), preserving historical documentation. She also served as a dedicated temple ordinance worker. Her life was a true reflection of Christian service, kindness, and quiet strength. Her bright blue eyes and constant smile lit up every room she entered.
Family was Sheila’s greatest joy. She and Harry raised four children in Simi Valley, California, instilling in them a deep love for the gospel, hard work, and each other. She cherished every moment spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and even great, great grandchildren, always remembering every birthday and anniversary.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother [Alfred Johnson Caldwell] who died in infancy. Her husband, Harry preceded her in death as did her oldest daughter Martha Robbins Ross and two of her great-grandchildren. She is survived by her son David Robbins (Genine Decker), daughter Pamela Robbins Smith (Dan Smith) and son Russell Robbins (Denise Fike) along with 13 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; 9 great-great-grandchildren and 2 sisters.
