

Shirley A. Horn, 84, beloved mother and grandmother passed away peacefully on September 3, 2011 at Pikes Peak Hospice in Colorado Springs, Colorado. She was born in Hastings, Nebraska on April 29, 1927, to the late Leslie and Lulu Bacon, one of nine children. Shirley was united in marriage to George Horn, Jr., on April 27, 1946 in Mankato, Kansas. To this union three children were born. They resided in Salina, Kansas until moving to Colorado Springs in 1963.
Shirley retired from Current, formerly Loo Art Press. She enjoyed working with ceramics in her early years and always loved to read.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory daughters, Linda M. Kaufhold and Sharon K. (Tom) Bates; grandsons, Sean Wallace and Christopher Horn all of Colorado Springs, Colorado; brothers, Gordon (DeAnn) Bacon of Colorado; Gary (Myrtle) Bacon of Nebraska; sister, Gloria (Richard) Hill of Nebraska as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Horn, Jr. and her son, Kenneth Horn.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 7, 2011 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Swan-Law Funeral Directors, and on Thursday, September 8 from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m.. Funeral service will take place on Thursday, September 8, 2011 at 11:00 a.m., Swan-Law Cascade Chapel, 501 North Cascade Avenue, Colorado Springs. Interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery, Colorado Springs.
