

Shirley was born on May 25, 1937, in Colorado Springs, Colorado to Leslie and Eva Gilbert. She was the youngest of 5 children. Her siblings were Robert Gilbert, Mayburn Gilbert, Leonard Gilbert, Vangie Preslie (Gilbert), whom all preceded her in death. Growing up in Colorado Springs, she lived on a farm on the North end of the city, which later became the Air Force Academy. She graduated from Colorado Springs High School (Palmer High School) in 1955.
After graduating from high school, she began to work for the Civil Service in the Steno pool at Fort Carson Army Base. She met Donald John Krabbenhoft in 1950 at a country Square Dance. The pair were married on April 20th, 1956. In 1962, they adopted their son, Mark K. Krabbenhoft (Catherine) and in 1964 they adopted Karen J, Sullivan (Steve).
Shirley loved to travel and after retiring with 38 years of civil service, she and Don began wintering in Yuma, Arizona. While there, she enjoyed playing golf, Bridge, Bunko, Red Hat Club and occasional trip to the area casinos.
Visitation services will be held on December 26th at Swan-Law Funeral from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. Graveside burial with family will immediately follow.
