Working in the Dean of Students office with Sidney when I was an MDiv student and he was Dean was a great gift and joy.  His encouragement, his willingness to entrust me with real responsibilities and his ease and humor were a blessing.  And I remember well being hosted so graciously by both Sidney and Shirley some years later at their home in Washington, DC.  I was blessed to know him.

Fall semester 1967 we showed up as newlyweds at NYC Union Theological Seminary and Sid Skirvin was one of the first seminary people we got to begin to know. Later when Rev. Beth got the call 1984 to Burke Presbyterian Church, Burke, VA - in the National Capital Presbytery we became reacquainted. A wonderful person.

To repeat what my brother Daryl Myers said, I also want to say Sid was such a wonderful, caring, person that we were lucky to have in our family. Over the many years he has been in our family I have enjoyed visiting with him and Shirley where ever they were, weather it be New York, Washington D C., Pueblo, or Colorado Springs,he and Shirley have always been so welcoming, and his sense of humor was top rated. I will miss him but I will always be thinking of him, he will never be forgotten.

As the husband of Shirley, the daughter of my step grandfather (who married my maternal grandmother) Sidney was one of the greater influences on my life. Whenever we were together over the past 50 years, we had fantastic intellectual discussions of science (Sidney was a trained chemist),Theology (since he was an ordained minister), and the human condition, especially ethics, morality, and mortality through the lens of history and experience. As a truly kind, thoughtful, analytic and unabashedly man of faith Sidney was a sympathetic listener and inspirational speaker. Not only Shirley's family, but my wife Barbara and I,  and the community, both religious and secular, have lost a kind and truly caring soul. We will never forget.

I had the privilege of knowing Sidney from Alamosa where I also grew up.  He was a fine human being and an inspiration to me and many who entered ministry.   He possessed a great sense of humor and a love of people that was infectious.  He will be missed.

What a fine man. His wisdom helped me through some formative years in ministry and we will miss him.
