by finishing the work that you gave me to do.
Now I am coming to you.
John 17: 4,13
Suddenly and quietly, in the early hours, of July 26, 2024, our dear Sister Jeannette Marie Weber was received into the arms of her loving and caring God. There were no signs of her impending death. We all were surprised and shocked when notified of her death.
Jeannette Catherine (Sister William) was born on June 21, 1947, in Hays Kansas to Henry and Helen (Wittman) Weber. She was the oldest of six siblings: Vernon (Janet), Jerry (Patti Jo), Marilyn, Joyce (Jeff), Jim (Marianne), Willis (Karen).
She graduated as an Aspirant from St. Joseph Convent High School in 1965, and entered our Congregation from Denver, Colorado, on August 12, 1966, professing final vows on August 11, 1973.
Sister Jeannette Marie began her ministry as a registered nurse after graduating from the University of Albuquerque – School of Nursing in 1970. Sister ministered at hospitals in Colorado, Nebraska and New Mexico. Her legacy was at Saint Anthony Hospital in Denver, Colorado where she ministered as an RN for 38 years, from 1974 – 2012. It is understandable that at an annual Nurses Day Event she received the Excellence in Caring Award.
In 2012 Sister Jeannette Marie moved to Mount Saint Francis continuing her ministry of nursing at St. Clare Convent in the Sisters Care Unit, and as nurse coordinator for the Sisters living at the Mount Saint Francis Nursing Center. During this span of 12 years, 2012 until the time of her death, she was a companion for the Sisters, driving them to their medical appointments, spending hours in surgery waiting rooms and emergency rooms.
During her down time, she enjoyed jigsaw and crossword puzzles. Singing and music were her joys. She was a member of the hand chime choir at Saint Francis of Assisi Parish and the note she chimed was middle C, and proud of it. While living in Denver she was a member of the Denver Archdiocesan Chorale group. She had a special devotion to the Poor Souls. She treasured quiet places, going deep within where she shared love with her spouse.
Sister Jeannette Marie truly loved the Franciscan values of simplicity, prayerfulness and service.
The community witnessed Sister Jeannette Marie’s faithful ministry, her steadfast spirit and her transparent personality. She was deeply loved and will be missed. She was a peaceful presence; her kindness and gift of service were exceptional.
The Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated on Monday, August 5, 2024, at 10:30am in St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church followed by burial in the Mount Saint Francis Cemetery.
