Stephen L. "Steve" McAnally, 65, passed away on September
22, 2015 at Pikes Peak Hospice in Colorado Springs. He was
born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa on November 3, 1949 to Betty
(Myers) and Robert McAnally. He graduated from Washington
High School in 1967, then attended Loras College for a short
time. In 1969 Steve joined the Air Force and served at ENT
AF Base in Colorado Springs through 1974.
Steve married Cynthia Wilcox in 1972 and they had two sons,
Jeremy & Patrick. They divorced many years later. He married
Mary Owens in 1995 and her children Philip and Alison
completed the family.
Steve was a professional Land Surveyor for over 40 years. He
was the proud owner of Shavano Land Survey since 2002.
Family was very important to him. He loved the outdoors,
was an avid fisherman and loved walking in Palmer Park with
his dog Shelby. He played fast pitch softball and the team won
the State and Regional championships in 1985. Music was a big
part of his life. He enjoyed watching NY Yankees, Colo
Rockies, Denver Broncos, Iowa Hawkeyes and Nascar. He
loved animals, especially dogs.
Steve was preceded in death by brothers Tim and Pat;
brother-in-law Greg; step-father Tom Meis; grandparents
Leroy and Hazel Myers; and special dog, Bear.
Steve is survived by his wife; children; mother, Betty Meis;
siblings, Sue, Jim, Julie, Kris, Cindy, Tom; granddaughter
Avianna Lynnell; Uncle Jerry Myers; many aunts, uncles,
nieces, nephews, cousins; many friends and business
associates.
A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, October 8,
2015 from 3-5 pm, at Swan-Law Funeral Directors, 501 N.
Cascade Avenue, Colorado Springs and also in Cedar Rapids,
IA on October 24, 2015.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the givers
choice in Steve's name.
