

Theresa Christine Mulligan peacefully passed away surrounded by her loving family on 19 May 2026 in Colorado Springs, CO. Theresa, or Tree, Tess, “T” and Grams as she was often referred to was born on 17 September 1964 in Moses Lake, WA to Robert and Beverly Schmidt.
Since her father was in the U.S. Air Force the family moved around quite a bit, with Theresa living in Moses Lake WA, Plattsburg NY, Seattle WA, Tacoma WA, Belleville IL, Frankfurt Germany, Clovis NM and finally Colorado Springs Colorado when her dad retired in 1978.
After graduating from Mitchell High School, Theresa attended Pikes Peak Community College where she met Robert (Bob) Mulligan.
On 28 May 1988, Theresa married Bob in Colorado Springs, CO. Their honeymoon was one of Theresa’s travel goals as they visited Hawaii, Australia, New Zealand and Fiji over a six-week period. Theresa continued her love for traveling with her family visiting Amsterdam, Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, England, France, Greece, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Mexico and Scotland.
Theresa worked briefly at Digital Equipment Corporation in 1984 before taking on the more critical job of a stay-at-home Mom raising her two children Joshua and Rebecca. Theresa was very active in the schools where her children attended and received several awards and accommodations for her volunteer work.
Theresa had an immense love for her home garden and enjoyed growing all the seasonal vegetables, herbs, strawberries and enormous zucchinis. This included growing raspberries from a root cutting from her grandfather’s home in Washington.
Theresa was preceded in death by her father Robert Schmidt. She is survived by her mother, Beverly Schmidt and her sister Felicia Bowen, her husband Bob, her two children Joshua (Danielle) Mulligan, Rebecca (Justin) Armstrong and her beloved grandchildren Aidan and Gavin Mulligan, sister-in-law Sharon Kurach and brothers-in-law Terry Shoemaker, Lester (Patty) Mulligan, Craig (Allison) Mulligan and her nieces and nephews; Nathan (Shelly) Kurach, Kyle (Samantha) Bowen, Kirstin (Jared) Wood, Zachary (McKenzie) Mulligan, Christopher (Lela) Mulligan, Ryan (Dana) Mulligan, Kelsey Mulligan, Brian Casablanca, five great-nieces and five great-nephews.
Services will be at Eastonville Cemetery in Black Forest CO on 1 June 2026 at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Blood Cancer United (https://bloodcancerunited.org/).
