Thomas Jefferson Williams III, was affectionately called “Tommy” by family and “Tom” by close friends and colleagues, departed this life suddenly at the age of sixty on Thursday morning the 9th of February 2017, at home in Colorado Springs. Tommy was born September 19, 1956, at the Tokyo Army Hospital, in Tokyo Japan.
He was the first of two children born to the late Thomas Williams Jr. and Annie P. Foley. Tommy was a long time resident of the Colorado Springs area since 1963 was educated in El Paso County Public School System and a member of Friendship Baptist Church. He served honorably in The United States Navy. Although he was an entrepreneur at heart with good-to-great intention, he also worked for various companies in and around Colorado Springs area.
Tommy loved life to the very end and within his beliefs, even on the darkest days, he embraced the notion that better days lay ahead not only for himself also for those he trusted and relied on. He was a joyful and free spirited person that was truly grounded by his belief and faith in the Lord.
He loved his children and grandchildren dearly. Affectionately referred to as “Papa”; ‘’Papa’’ always greeted them with a Big Hug and Kiss, and with the question “what can you tell Papa today”. He often demonstrated his love for his children and grandchildren by taking time out to read to them, or share something that seized their full attention; sharing a toy, a piece of candy or simply words of encouragement. He always looked out for his children in the best way he knew how.
He was loving and was always there to help others to no end. He always had a story to tell that was distinctive to him alone. His love for animals was a soft spot (dogs and cats). He enjoyed watching sports, westerns and including listening to comedians tell their jokes from which he tried to emulate. Yet most people didn’t know that Tommy was a man of many talents. He enjoyed R&B & Gospel music and at times played the Harmonica, Guitar and Piano.
Tommy was preceded in death by his Mother Annie P. Foley, his Father Thomas Jefferson Williams Jr. His favorite Aunt Ruth Easter , a brother at birth and wife Anne Beverly. Tommy leaves behind to cherish his memories two daughters Nicole A. Williams & Jennifer M. Williams: son Thomas J. Williams IV, in Colorado Springs; his loving brother, Walter McCoy (Webber) & Sidonie Sister-in-Law, in Calverton, MD; 6 – Grandchildren: Zaccaria Robinson, Michelle Graham, Ashlin Williams, Kaylee Williams, Diimarie Williams, Domonique Williams, and a special host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many relatives and friends. Gone but not forgotten, for he will be missed so dearly and always loved.
