

He was born in Oxford, Alabama to Vernon Cooper Jobson and Martha Owens Jobson. He graduated from Atlanta’s North Fulton HS in 1953 where he played football and basketball.
While at Stetson University in Deland, Florida, he met his future wife, Sally King. They were married in 1955 and they continued their education at Stetson, both graduating in 1957. Vernon graduated with a BS degree in Business. He was in ROTC in high school and college and served in the Army and Army Reserves.
He held executive positions with IBM, Harris, Pitney Bowes, Sony, and Bell South.
Vernon was very active in Vinings United Methodist Church. He enjoyed running, working out, hunting, fishing, and reading.
Vernon was such a kind and caring man, always looking out for others. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Vernon’s memory lives on through his beloved wife of 71 years, Sally King Jobson; his sister Nan Jobson; his daughters, Melinda Munns (Dave), and Ellen Jobson; his grandchildren Jonathan Munns and Nicole Banta; and great-grand children Grayson, Hudson, and Theodore. He was preceded in death by his brother, Ken Jobson.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Vernon’s memory to Vinings United Methodist Church, 3101 Paces Mill Rd SE, Atlanta, GA 30339.
A graveside service celebrating Vernon’s life will take place at 10am on Saturday October 24, 2026 at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, 656 Roscoe Rd, Newman, GA 30263. Afterwards, family and friends are invited to meet at Sprayberry’s BBQ Restaurant, 229 Jackson St, Newnan, GA.
